There seems to have been alot of discussion and debate about a subject matter obviously near and dear to my heart so I want to use this space to answer a question I seem to get quite often these days.
Why do I paint the figure?
The things that concern me, the topics I`m obsessed with relate to the human condition.
People intrigue me, they are full of beauty, ugliness, hope, joy, dispair, and heroic accomplishment all at the same time.
I am amazed at the endless inspiration humanity provides me
The figure can convey a limitless number of meanings.
There is no better way to reveal your message , ideas, or worldview to a viewer than to represent that concept with the form of another person.
It is a form that all people can easily embrace in it`s infinite, boundless, emotive possibilities.
Even if that viewer disagrees with your message he/she will most definitely understand it on some level.
It is the only subject matter which has such vast potential for expression.
That kind of intimacy is what good art is to me.
Devious Comments
I favor the human figure as a subject 'cause I think its the most purty!

Change occurs when the pain of remaining the same outweighs the fear of the pain of change.
Well yeah, there`s that too!
I`ve just recently been asked to justify using the figure as a valid artistic subject.
I dunno why I justified it with an answer.
